When it's cold outside and you're indoors with a little one who's running a fever (yep, AGAIN)... and who needs to do something fun... you get creative.
I got a good 30 minutes out of it!... and a room full of good steam to breath into our congested chests!!
Jennah's also mastered "sewing" cards! She's so proud of herself! After each hole is done, she'll yell out "all myself!" "I did!" She'll need a Singer sewing machine soon. Jennah is A LOT like her Uncle Travis... from the shape of her toes to the cute curls on her head... She LOVES to take pictures. Here's one of her recent pictures... love seeing things from her perspective. Now to find a camera that she can tote around instead of our nice ($) one.
We got some free bread from the bakery outlet yesterday and decided to take it to the ducks today. It's great that it's not 100+ degrees outside. Ahhh. If only I could bottle this coolness up and save it for one of those 110+ days!! Anyway... it was a great chance for Buddy to practice being on a leash... which he did really well!! and Jennah was a great "leash-holder-on-er." The ducks did get a bit rowdy... so had to carry Buddy and Andy had to carry Jennah. I don't think either one of them liked being swarmed by the feathered and beaked. It must not have been that bad though, Jennah's already to go back again!
We're border-lining on potty-training. Jennah's now going to the bathroom to "study" her business.... and then comes out asking for a clean diaper. Well...tonight, she decided to sneak a RED crayon into her "studies." I went to check on her and she just started laughing. I thought she was just being cute...until I saw the red crayon flash by the crack of the door. "Oh, nuh-uh girlfriend! No you didn't" My child would NEVER write/color on the walls of my NEW house.
We had a wonderful "splendiferous" (Fancy Nancy) Christmas!
Santa was so generous this year... Jennah was opening gifts literally all day long. I think it had more to do the fact that as each gift was opened, it had to be played with before moving to the next one. It all started with the pink glitter polish in her stocking...which meant we had to do a quickie mani-pedi. And then once she found the Princess chap-stick, we were putting on the "lippie sh-tick" lip gloss until it was empty. What a girl!! Santa spoiled me with this:
Just in time for some 2010 resolutions to be made (too bad there were sooo many goodies around!) and Santa TOTALLY SUPRISED ME with this: Andy had a very merry "Ibanez" Christmas as you can see...The day after Christmas (poor Buddy got his 2nd round of puppy shots and...) we went up to a cabin in Shaver Lake. It was Jennah's 1st snow... and she LOVED LOVED LOVED it! Andy and Travis had to take turns keeping up with her demands to go "more"and "faster" each run down the hill (this is how I know she's NOT my clone).
Out of focus... but here we are...(yes, Andy's in a t-shirt--sweating from shoveling snow!... and yes--I have Buddy in the Maya wrap, keeping a wee little puppy warm!!) The reason we've fallen behind in our postings... is this: SICK. SICK. SICK. No nothing new really. The morning after the cabin Jennah started running a fever (over 102 for 5 days)... a chest x-ray, 3 Dr. visits, and an antibiotic shot later... Poor sweet girl was battling another round of pneumonia. I think it was the same thing she had a while back that had been suppressed by the wrong antibiotics. But we're fixed now. We'll go on Monday, Jan 11 for another x-ray to confirm that there are no signs of the pneumonia left. At least I was off of work to take care of her. A day after her fever broke... I went back to work. Ugh... back to daycare. Don't get me wrong. I love that Jennah has a social time. I think it's good for both of us. I get up and dressed and interact with others. But really, I wish that there was a way to work and have enough time off when my baby is sick. It would work in my perfect world.
Anyways, while Jennah was sick... and asleep... I worked on this:
I've been dreaming of having a garage that looked like this for YEARS!! I find that I look for reasons to go to the garage just so I can stare at these gorgeous tubs all stacked, labeled and perfect! (OCD anyone?) Eat your heart out Martha Stewart!
for your patience. We are experiencing a technical difficulty at the moment. It has nothing to do with our computer, but only with the fact that I have not had time to use it. Please try again to view an updated posting which will include an overview of a fabulous Christmas. Again, thank you for your patience. It is certainly appreciated.
Yes... we're finally updating our blog. It's been quite busy around our home. Between decorating, making treats, shopping and preparing for parties...we've hardly been able to find time to think in the last few weeks. Sh-weew!.... We need a break! Just as a quick update... our newest family member, Buddy is transitioning to our home very well. He is a smart one who is so patient with Jennah (who LOVES him SOO much). We've been 5+ days without one "ooops" on the carpet (knock on wood). Nibley is warming up to him as well. Snack time seems to prove that a lesson in "manners" would be beneficial, as you can see. Poor Jennah, getting attacked by the wild beasts... all in the name of a vanilla animal cracker! Watch your bowls!
This is how we've been doing reading time... it's a bit difficult to turn the pages, but I manage. One of Jennah's FAVORITE (as in we have to read it at the very least... 3-5 times a day, no joke) books is " Fancy Nancy's Splendiferous Christmas." I found it back around Thanksgiving at Costco... and bought it just because I LOVED the glitter on the book jacket! TOO CUTE! We'd never read "Fancy Nancy" anything before, but now we are "FANCY NANCY GIRLS!!" For sure!
.... We even made our very own "Fancy Nancy Christmas" TODDLER FRIENDLY tree decorations! On each of the 5 days prior to our getting our FRESH tree, Jennah and I would make a set of ornaments. One day we made foam circles and attached glitter foam stickers. Another day we made yarn tassels. The next we use glitter pom-poms and attached them to mini-popsicle stick "snowflakes" that we had spray painted white. My personal favorite was silver cupcake wrappers cut to make flowers that you attach to some of the light bulbs. Once we put all of our beautiful ornaments on (with metallic pipe cleaners, no hooks please!), Jennah would "rearrange" the bottom 3 feet of the tree on a daily basis. This process was serious, and required each ornament to be inspected, relocated and then admired. Watching her do it was like looking at myself in the mirror. Scary. We were going to put "snowballs" on the tree... but ran out of time... so we just have fun throwing them up in the air and having a "snowball party" instead! Monday, Dec. 21st was Jennah's 1st school performance. Just picture it....17 (yes, seventeen!) 2- year-olds on riser/stage... singing. Jennah was nothing short of a Drama Queen. The girl loves her some stage!!! You can't see too much of her in this video...
but here's what is going on... on HER part of the stage, which she's managed to clear off for her own personal use...
The video doesn't do a justice... it still makes me laugh though. Cute girl!!
Well, there you have it... we've updated our blog... and now we can hopefully have more time on our hands to update it a bit more often. We hope you had a busy, happy and healthy holiday season too! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!!
some of Travis' AMAZING photography work, that is... click HERE. (What your seeing in these photos is a place called "Fly Geyser" in Nevada. It is located on private property and not just any photographer has access to it. Travis was invited a few weeks ago to see it and the images he captured are breath-taking. I only wish that I could have seen it for myself. I asked him if it really looked like it does in these images. He said that when he got there and saw geyser, he thought to himself "when people see the pictures, they are never going to believe this. It really look like it does in the pictures!" W-O-W. )
He is participating in a worldwide photo contest and needs YOUR help. If you can, please take a moment to VOTE for your favorite piece. THANK YOU!!!
Sorry for the delay of updates.... we're potty training... Buddy (Jennah will just have to learn from observation for now). I promise... cute pictures of tree decorating, family bonding, and more to come!! (sorry, gotta run... the steam mop is ready to go over yet another spot!)
