P is for...

P is for...

PAINTING
Jennah's room needed some attention, to say the very least.
When she chose purple and I put too much of it on the wall.... there was nothing left but to tone it down a notch. Then life happened.... and her room became the toy closet... as you can see. Well, this summer project can officially be checked off the list.
Much...MUCH.... better. And the help was cheap....

P is for POTTY
The moment came... I wasn't ready for it... but Jennah was.
The Pediatrician gave us pointers... we put the "ball" in her court.
I was mentally psyching myself up for all of the battles I've seen my girlfriends endure with their potty-trainers. How would I handle each situation? I was told that I would need to stock up my food storage because I would be home-bound for about week while we were potty training. The germa-phob in me was dreading (to put it lightly) having to find/use public toilets everywhere we went. Diapers are great and convenient!!

Randomly, we did an hour or two, here and there, over the last 6 months, in big girl panties... but nothing more than "playing in panties". I asked her a few times which bottoms she prefer to wear "Elmo panites" (pampers have Elmo prints) or "big girl princess panties?"... "Emmo" was ALWAYS her answer. I didn't push it. Everything I'd read said to make sure the CHILD was ready... not our budget.

I started bribing (persuading) her to use the potty with "treats"... which SHE chose... BLACK LICORICE! (Whose child IS this!? ) She LOVED loved that idea... every chance she got... she'd head for the potty.

So there we were... it was a toasty Friday, July 2nd... and we made a full ACCIDENT FREE transition to "big girl panties" in less than 24 hours. I hate to brag.... but seriously... this girl practically trained herself! We were getting ready for school and I asked Jennah (mostly as a way to humor myself) "Elmo panties or big girl princess panties?" Jennah replied with the most matter of fact tone, "Rincess panties." She wore her big girl panties to school... like she'd done it a million times before.
There you have it.
That's how we did it.
Black licorice (blah!) and "rincess" panties.

P is for PARTIES
Not one. But TWO! ... within 48 hours.

On Friday (July 2nd), since we were SOOO proud of our "Potty Success"... we HAD to celebrate! With a "P" party!!
We had (my little) ponies, pink cookies, princess panties, pizza, pink 7up and presents. Pops and Gawpee came, and even Uncle Travis and Val.
It was Perfect!

Then on the 4th we had a huge shindig... with neigboors, family and lots of friends.
The food was incredible... but the desserts left us speechless.

As usual, Uncle Travis put on a great show... and had sparklers set aside just for Jennah.
Happy 4th of July... from our family to yours!!!
